Some people see what a great thing a blog is, and others don’t.
The course leader last weekend asked me what I did in my spare time. Do I write a novel? Or plays?
No, I said, I write a blog. What’s a blog? Well it’s a website that’s dead easy to publish to, and has some tools to encourage the rest of the world to read it.
Patrice sees what’s it’s about immediately and wants one. She has some writings she wants to publish on the Web, but has been held up by a unfulfilled promise of designing a website for her – a website that won’t do the job she wants it to, anyway. I’m waiting for an e-mail when she gets back from Ireland, so I can sort out the best platform for her blog.
On the other hand, my friend Peter, widely published telecoms journalist and sometime owner of a newsletter publishing company, just doesn’t seem to get it.
So I’ve set up some permissions so he can publish his thoughts here, on Dangerous Thinking.
I hope he gives it a go as he has a lot to say.

I always seem to be not writing a book. Well, ever since the freelance journalism dried up. At first it was a novel, then a screenplay, then a novel again and now it’s a piece of non-fiction. No matter how hard I try, I never seem to finish them off. And to make matters worse the pile of ideas just gets higher.
So when Dave asked me if I wanted to guest on his Blog (or is it blog – has the B/blog made it to Internet or God status yet?) I did the obvious thing – put off making a decision to another day. Now the B****** has thrown down a gauntlet on his B/blog – where else – to try and shame me into B/blogging.
Well I know what to do when challenged – think about it good and long. My first reaction was of course to pick up the gauntlet and use it to slap Dave about the face. But that would not do. Far too painless. Then I had a brilliant idea. Bemuse the pros and cons of B/blogging – in public and on Dave’s website – where else. Perhaps even incite insurrection. That should inflict enough pain, targeted just at the right spot, the B/blog.
But this I suspect is a rare case of the unconverted preaching to the converted. Or are there any other sceptics out there? If so, please let me know. I need all the support I can get. But please excuse me right now – I’ve got to get back to not writing my book. Lot to say, indeed
